BRP has been nice enough to explain what is required to ride a Spyder in the jurisdictions they will be initially released in. But what if you live outside that jurisdiction? What are the rules in your area? Other questions remain unanswered. Can you use the Spyder to complete the (if required) motorcycle skills test in your area? What kind of license will that authorize you to carry?
Three Wheel Revolution has secured answers for the following states:
This is a big project that will eventually encompass the whole of the United States and Canada. If you don’t see your jurisdiction listed above, we are working on it. You can help by asking your local licensing office the following questions and then emailing the answers to Three Wheel Revolution.
What type of license is required to operate a Can-Am Spyder in your jurisdiction? For example, a four wheel vehicle license, motorcycle endorsement or license, or some special three-wheel license.
If there is a skills test required to acquire the license, can the Spyder be used to complete the test? Is the test appropriate for the size of the Spyder?
If a safety course is required, is it designed for three-wheel vehicles such as the Spyder?
Finally, and of extreme importance, please attempt to provide us with a contact name, phone number, and/or email address of the official who can confirm this. All information will have to be confirmed by Three Wheel Revolution directly.
Unless you request to be anonymous, Three Wheel Revolution will credit you with helping to acquire the information for your area.
